Hello, and thank you for visiting A Voice Within. I’m Bill Kronert, the person behind this website.

I was born in 1960 and raised in San Diego, California. In 1984 I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from San Diego State University (SDSU). I had work in Dr. Bernstein’s lab at SDSU from 1983 through 2020

During my time at SDSU, I worked in biology research, focusing on the fruit fly Drosophila to study muscle-specific genes, including myosin heavy chain. Our work contributed to understanding human myosin-related diseases such as cardiomyopathy. It was a rewarding career which resulted in 33 Scientific Publications from William Kronert. My wife, Eugenia, also worked at SDSU, and we retired together in 2020 after long and fulfilling careers.

Life in Oregon

In 2009, Eugenia and I purchased our future retirement home in Grants Pass, Oregon. It’s a quiet, rural property just outside the city—2.8 acres of forested, flat land that brings us peace and serenity every day. Just prior to moving up from our retirement we had our retirement home remodeled Bill & Eugenia Kronert’s Retirement Home in Grants Pass, OR – Google Photos The pictures were taken on May 9th, 2020 the day we arrived in Grants Pass Oregon from our move from San Diego.

Interests and Hobbies

I’ve always had a deep interest in computers and technology. While at SDSU, I volunteered to run the university’s Usenet News Server. In 1994, before online dating was common, I started a local computer-based singles group that brought people together for social events like biking, movies, and lunches. That group even led to several lasting marriages.

Eugenia and I share many outdoor hobbies. We love mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding. We enjoy biking along the Rogue River Greenway, hiking in Fish Hatchery Park and kayaking the Rogue River.

A Shared Life

Eugenia and I were married in October 2001. She moved from Argentina to the U.S. in 2000 and worked as a kindergarten teacher before joining me at SDSU. She’s not only my wife but also my best friend and companion in all things.

Why I Write

In my free time, I enjoy writing about topics that matter deeply to me—issues that strike a personal chord. If my words can help others see a new perspective or understand something more clearly, I consider that a meaningful success. I believe in the power of thoughtful expression to inspire, influence, and connect.

The last farewell for my long and enjoyable career:
San Diego State Research Foundation and my former supervisor Dr. Bernstein published an enjoyable article for my retirement entitled, “Decades of Dedication”.
