Bill Minnix has filed the petition papers for Governor Kotek recall. I was very excited when I first read his post about filing the recall petition papers – but in retrospect I have some very concerning issues about signing onto recalling Governor Kotek.
Use caution when considering signing on Governor Kotek recall petition. Check to see who would replace her if she was recalled. You might find her replacement is either no better or even worse than Governor Kotek when it comes to the liberal agenda and progressive policies.
Last I checked, Tobias Read (Secretary of State) would be appointed as Governor should Governor Kotek be recalled.
Just who is Tobias Read when it comes to Progressive Liberal Priorities:
Climate & Environment:
Championed Oregon’s shift to green energy and jobs; supported legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand clean energy infrastructure
Played a key role in protecting the Elliott State Forest, transforming it into North America’s largest research forest and carbon reserve
Developed a plan for the state’s pension investments to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050
Elections & Government Accountability:
In his current role as Secretary of State, he emphasizes protecting vote-by-mail, enhancing election security, and insulating election integrity from misinformation.
Equity & Inclusion:
As Treasurer, he made strides in diversifying the investment team, nearly tripling staff of color and elevating women and BIPOC leadership in his core management team.
Summary Table Of Reproductive & Trans Rights Alignment
Issue Area | Tobias Read’s Position |
---|---|
Abortion and reproductive health | Pro‑choice; supports Planned Parenthood; advocates for birth control and sex-ed access |
Anti-discrimination by gender identity | Supports adding “gender identity” to civil rights laws |
Trans youth healthcare | Supports access to gender-affirming treatments for minors per professional standards |
Trans inclusion in sports | Supports participation if hormone criteria are met |
Endorsements & alliances | Backed by major progressive, labor, and reproductive/LGBTQ rights organizations |
I urge caution if you consider signing a recall for Governor Kotek. Ask yourself, are we (conservatives) going to be any better or worse off should Governor Kotek be recalled. We clearly need a change of leadership from Governor to changing the majority in the senate and house – but is the recall going to change anything or will it just keep it status quo?
I wrote a follow up to this article called:
The Strategy behind Recalling or Not Recalling Governor Kotek

I like the progressive agenda of your governor now and the one who would if a recall is successful the new Governor. All inclusive!!
Of course I have no say I’m from California!!
We really need to abolish the mail in ballot they have earned to cheat there way in to the positions they want to run the country.
I completely agree with you. We need to repeal the mail in ballot. I believe signatures are taking place to get in on the ballot soon. There is the End Vote by Mail Website to help keep people updated on this – https://www.endvbm.com/
