They may be unable to provide any actual evidence of wrongdoing, but they continue to cast doubt and fuel suspicion. Sometimes, creating that suspicion appears to be the very objective.
Over the past couple of years, this tactic has been used to influence the makeup of our county government. The formula is simple: make insinuations, raise doubts about a person’s character, and repeat the allegations often enough that people begin to believe them – even when no solid evidence has been presented.

The last couple years I have read peopleโs posts and comments using the term, โGood Ole Boysโ – used in a derogatory way. Calling someone part of the โgood ole boysโ club is not proof of wrongdoing. Knowing people, having longtime friendships, or making an unpopular decision does not establish corruption or favoritism. Without supporting evidence, the label casts suspicion without establishing misconduct. ๐ฅ๐๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ฒ๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป.
It gets tiresome reading, โHeโs part of the good ole boysโ club,โ without any evidence of what he supposedly did wrong. Repeating an accusation until people believe it is not accountability. It is an attempt to substitute suspicion for proof. Unsupported accusations can damage a person’s reputation without establishing that any wrongdoing occurred.

The real test of conservative leadership isn’t who applauds you, who defends you, or what letter follows your name. It’s whether you restrain government spending, challenge unnecessary taxes and fees, demand accountability, and put taxpayers ahead of political convenience.
