Beyond the Office: John West Showed Up

For one Applegate Valley family, leadership became more than a campaign promise when John West responded to their struggle over a property cleanup.

According to the family’s account, their effort to remove years of dumped garbage and invasive blackberries along the Applegate River (from previous owners) brought county violation notices and permit requirements. After they shared their frustration online, West called the next day and then visited the property to see the situation himself.

His involvement did not end with a sympathetic conversation. The family says West brought together multiple departments and legal counsel, approached other agencies, and advocated on their behalf until the fines, fees, and permit requirements were dropped.

And this family’s experience is not an isolated example. West has reportedly gone out of his way to help other residents facing difficult situations, demonstrating a willingness to step in and help when people need someone in their corner.
